1. Nature of the CPD

1.1 CPD courses offered by Amatsu School ("the School") are continuing professional development and educational events. They are not training in any regulated healthcare profession and do not constitute qualification, certification, or an extension of scope of practice in any discipline.

1.2 Our CPD explores concepts, models, and practical approaches drawn from the Amatsu tradition of Japanese integrative healthcare — a lineage with deep historical roots and a contemporary evidence-informed perspective. The content is designed to complement and enrich existing professional knowledge, not to replace it.

1.3 Courses are designed for practitioners who wish to broaden their understanding across the manual therapy and integrative healthcare spectrum. This includes — but is not limited to — osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, sports therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals, whether regulated or unregulated.

1.4 The School does not hold qualifications in subjects outside of our Amatsu training and tradition, including but not limited to osteopathy, chiropractic, physiotherapy, medicine, or any other profession whether regulated or unregulated. Our CPD is not presented as, and should not be understood as, instruction within any of those disciplines.

1.5 Certificates of attendance confirm participation only. They do not confer professional qualification, clinical competence, or regulatory recognition in any discipline.

 

2. Professional Responsibility and Scope of Practice

2.1 Participants remain solely and fully responsible for their own professional practice, clinical judgement, and all decisions made in the course of their work with clients or patients.

2.2 The School has no involvement in or liability for participants' clinical or professional activities, before, during, or after attendance.

2.3 Any application of course content to professional practice is entirely at the participant's own discretion and risk. Before doing so, participants must satisfy themselves that any such application:

• (a) falls within their existing competence and legally defined scope of practice;

• (b) complies with the standards and requirements of their professional body (including, where applicable, the General Osteopathic Council, General Chiropractic Council, Health and Care Professions Council, or any other relevant regulatory body);

• (c) is covered by their professional indemnity insurance; and

• (d) meets all other applicable legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations.

2.4 Attendance at the School's CPD does not modify, expand, or authorise a participant's scope of practice in any way.

 

3. CPD Recognition and Regulatory Compliance

3.1 Participants are responsible for determining whether attendance satisfies the CPD requirements of their own professional body or regulatory authority.

3.2 The School does not make representations to any regulatory body on behalf of participants and cannot guarantee that any course will be accepted by a regulatory body for mandatory CPD purposes.

3.3 Participants from regulated professions are advised to check their body's CPD framework before booking if CPD recognition is a requirement for their attendance.

 

4. Course Content

4.1 Content may include presentations, discussion, demonstration, and practical exercises. The School takes care to ensure all content is accurate, professionally delivered, and respectful of the range of professional backgrounds in the room.

4.2 We make no guarantee that any material is suitable for direct clinical application. Course content is offered for educational exploration and professional enrichment.

4.3 The School reserves the right to update, amend, or adjust course content at any time, including to reflect new knowledge or developments in the field.

4.4 Day 1 of the Whole-Body Clinical Reasoning series is delivered in full and stands independently as complete CPD. Days 2, 3 and 4 are in development and are not guaranteed to run on any particular timescale, or at all.

4.5 Registering for or attending Day 1 does not constitute a booking, reservation or entitlement to any subsequent day in the series. Each day will be advertised and booked separately as and when confirmed.​

 

5. Health, Safety, and Participation

5.1 Participants are responsible for assessing their own physical fitness and suitability to take part in any practical element of a course.

5.2 Participants may step back from any exercise or activity at any time, without explanation.

5.3 The School may ask a participant to pause or step back from an activity where a safety concern arises.

5.4 Participants attend and participate at their own risk. The School accepts no liability for injury, illness, or loss during a course except where caused directly by the School's own proven negligence.

 

6. Patient and Client Information

6.1 Participants must not share, present, or bring any patient- or client-identifiable information — including records, case notes, images, or personal data — during CPD sessions unless they hold full legal authority and explicit consent to do so.

6.2 Participants are solely responsible for complying with all data protection, confidentiality, and professional obligations relating to any information they disclose.

 

7. Recording, Photography, and Media

7.1 Recording, photography, and livestreaming of sessions by participants is not permitted without prior written consent from the School.

7.2 Where permission is granted, any material produced must not be shared, published, or distributed publicly. Participants are personally responsible for any breach of this.

7.3 The School may photograph or film sessions for its own educational and promotional use, including on its website and social media. By attending, participants consent to the use of their image and voice in such material, unless they inform the School in writing before the event. Our Privacy Policy applies.

 

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 All course materials — including handouts, presentations, methods, and content produced or shared by the School — remain the intellectual property of the School.

8.2 Materials may not be copied, reproduced, taught, published, or distributed in any form without prior written permission from the School.

 

9. Confidentiality of Course Content

9.1 All knowledge, methods, approaches, and information encountered during the School's CPD courses is confidential to the School. Participants may not disclose, share, or reproduce any such content — whether verbally, in writing, through presentations, or by any other means — outside of their own private professional reflection.

9.2 This obligation applies during and after attendance, and does not expire upon completion of a course.

 

10. Fees, Booking, and Cancellation

10.1 Where a course fee applies, it is due in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing. Complimentary or pilot sessions, where stated as such, are offered free of charge and the cancellation terms below relating to fees do not apply to them — though we ask participants to notify us as early as possible if they are unable to attend, to allow the place to be offered to another practitioner.

10.2 Statutory Cancellation Window: For paid courses, you are entitled to a full refund within 14 days of your initial booking date. However, if you book within 14 days of the live course date, or if you access downloadable pre-course materials, this statutory right is waived.

10.3 Peace of Mind Cancellation Windows: Outside of the statutory 14-day window, our cancellation and refund terms operate on a clear timeline to give you flexibility while ensuring the course remains viable:

• Up to 1 Month Before: If you cancel your place at least one full calendar month before the course date, you will receive a partial refund minus a £25 administration fee.

• Less than 1 Month Before: If you cancel after one month, or if you booked within one month of the course date, no refunds or transfers to future dates can be issued for any reason.

10.4 Delegate Substitutions: If you are within the one-month "no refund" window and cannot attend, you are completely free to sell or gift your ticket to a qualified colleague(Registered Osteopath, Physiotherapist, or Chiropractor) to recover your costs. You must notify us by email with the substitute’s full name.

10.5 Cancellations by the School & Liability:

• Tutor Emergency: In the highly unlikely event that we must cancel a course due to tutor illness or an emergency, you will receive a 100% full refund of your paid course fee immediately.

• Travel and Expenses: Because we operate as a boutique school with limited administrative and operational resources, we cannot be held liable for any secondary expenses you incur due to a course cancellation (including non-refundable train tickets, hotel bookings, or mileage). We highly recommend booking flexible, refundable travel arrangements.

10.6 Course Materials and Certificates: Official physical certificates and printed course papers are prepared in advance as a single production batch. Participants whose bookings are finalized prior to this production run will receive their physical copies on the day of the course. Bookings or delegate substitutions finalized after the print batch has been processed will automatically receive their official CPD certificate as a digital PDF via email following the event.

 

11. Premises

11.1 The School accepts no liability for any loss, injury, damage, or other matter arising from the condition or use of those premises, except where directly caused by the School's own negligence.

11.2 Participants are personally responsible for any damage they cause to venue property.

11.3 The School accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to participants' personal belongings at any venue.

 

12. Limitation of Liability

12.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the School's liability in connection with any CPD course is limited to the course fee paid by the participant.

12.2 The School is not liable for any indirect, consequential, economic, or business losses arising from attendance or from the use of course content.

12.3 Nothing in these Terms limits the School's liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

 

13. Conduct

13.1 All participants are expected to engage with professionalism and mutual respect — toward fellow participants, toward the School's facilitators, and toward the breadth of professional traditions represented in the room.

13.2 The School reserves the right to ask any participant to leave, without refund, where their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, disrespectful, or incompatible with a professional learning environment.

 

14. Data Protection

15. Governing Law

15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
